Requirements for Login

If you already have NASA credentials and use Launchpad to log into the Science Cloud, you do not need to submit a separate NASA Account Management System (NAMS) request. The system uses your existing Launchpad setup to verify who you are and automatically grants you the right access. This streamlines the process, saves time, and removes the need for extra approval paperwork.

Access for External Collaborators Without PIV Cards

External partners and researchers who do not have a NASA PIV card can still access the platform securely. They will log in using a straightforward, two-step process. First, they will log in using their own home institution's credentials (such as their university email and password). Second, they will verify their identity using a Science Cloud-specific app.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) App Requirements

To maintain a consistent and secure environment, everyone is required to set up and use the Science Cloud-specific MFA app to log in.

Console Access for NASA Credentialed Users

For users with NASA credentials, you are required to use your physical PIV card to authenticate when logging into the console. This hardware-based check ensures your identity is fully verified.

Support for International Collaboration

The Science Cloud is built to encourage global scientific discovery. There are no systemic barriers preventing international participation. The platform and its login systems are fully designed to support both external and international researchers, making it easy for them to join and collaborate on NASA-funded projects.
