Target time from request to first login: 4 hours. Everything starts with one email: |
First, which path do you need?
| Your situation | Go to |
|---|---|
| I want a new project on the Research Platform | Path A |
| My project already exists, and I need to be added | Path B |
| I have no NASA identity (I am a partner) | You must obtain a STAR ID first, then follow Path B (to obtain a STAR ID, email support@sciencecloud.nasa.gov) |
...
Path A
...
: Start a New Project
This path is for the Project Admin—the person who will
...
manage the project and its
...
funding.
Step 1
...
: Send
...
the request email
...
Email support@sciencecloud.nasa.gov
...
to ask for a new Research Platform project.
...
There is no official form to fill out, but including the following details in your email will prevent back-and-forth and get you set up much faster:
- The project name
...
- The funding source
...
- The expected budget
...
- The project admin's name and NASA identity
...
- The
...
- initial list of team members you want
...
- to add
A request with these details moves through the steps below with no back-and-forth.
Step 2
...
: Science Cloud
...
review
Science Cloud finance and management
...
will review the request
...
to verify the funding and
...
ensure it is a good fit. You do not need to
...
follow up; the team will contact you once approved.
Step 3
...
: Project setup
The platform team
...
creates the project workspace and
...
officially sets you as its first
...
Project Admin.
Step 4
...
: Add your team
You can now
...
log into the RPAdmin console
...
. From here, you can self-manage your team without submitting any support tickets. You can add members, set
...
individual budgets, and turn on features
...
like team collaboration.
...
See RPAdmin — the admin console.
...
Path B
...
: Join an Existing Project
Just ask your Project Admin. They can add you instantly through the RPAdmin console without contacting support.
Ask your project admin. That is the whole process. The project admin adds you in the RPAdmin console, with no ticket to the platform team.
Your project admin can add you straight away if either of these is true:
- You are a NASA user (you have a NASA identity), or
- You are already registered in STAR, the Science Cloud login service.
If neither is true yet, get a STAR ID first. See below.
...
- Requirements: You must have a NASA identity or an existing STAR ID.
- To log in: Once added, open
...
If you have no NASA identity
...
No NASA Identity? (External Partners)
If you are an external partner at a university, agency, or company, you need a STAR ID
...
(the central Science Cloud login
...
) before an admin can add you to a project.
- Get
...
- a STAR ID:
...
- Email support@sciencecloud.nasa.gov to request one.
...
- Join your team: Once you receive your STAR ID,
...
- give it to your Project Admin so they can add you to the
...
- workspace.
...
...
Expected Wait Times
Our
...
goal is to have you working within 4 hours of receiving a complete request
...
.
Delays usually only happen if your request is missing information, or if project funding needs further discussion.
...
Quick Reference Guide
Two things can make it longer:
- The approval in Step 2, if the funding question needs more discussion.
- A request with missing information.
